Jen Sepso
I design products for people working inside complex systems. My work spans federal regulation, power-grid planning, healthcare, and education — domains where information is dense, requirements change, and clarity matters. I’m strongest when the underlying model is unclear, the inputs are fragmented, or teams need something concrete to align around. Current focus: AI-assisted product development, workflow architecture, and evaluating AI-generated design work.
Lead product design for enterprise and consumer platforms from discovery through implementation, with a focus on operational workflows, information architecture, and AI-enabled products.
- Designed a connected examination workspace for a federal regulatory platform, bringing institution, issue, evidence, workpaper, and review workflows into one end-to-end experience.
- Led UX design and workflow architecture for an AI-assisted power-grid planning platform, working with engineers and domain experts to turn evolving requirements into practical workflows and interaction models.
- Developed the Legibility Audit, a practical method for testing what complex prototypes actually communicate before stakeholder or user review.
- Established recurring design office hours for federal client teams during a separate engagement, coaching designers on guided product audits, Figma variables, design systems, and day-to-day design practice.
- Worked across product, engineering, executives, and subject-matter experts to find the model beneath fragmented requirements and turn ambiguity into testable workflows, object models, and implementation decisions.
Independent product and design practice alongside full-time roles.
- Directed more than 100 engagements from early strategy through production, balancing client leadership with hands-on design.
- Built small cross-disciplinary teams of designers, developers, writers, and production partners around the needs of each project.
- Delivered digital products, campaigns, and identity systems across healthcare, culture, media, consumer products, education, and nonprofit organizations.
Creative lead for civic information and voter-engagement products serving New York City voters.
- Designed and delivered the multilingual NYC Voter Guide, distributed to more than 8.6 million residents in five languages.
- Led design of the Annual Voter Analysis Report for New York City leadership, including the Mayor, City Council, Public Advocate, Comptroller, and Borough Presidents.
- Built reusable production systems that shortened delivery cycles while maintaining accuracy across digital and print.
- Integrated accessibility and WCAG standards into public-facing civic information products.
- Created informational materials for underserved audiences, including survivors of domestic violence, formerly incarcerated people, and people experiencing homelessness.
- Directed the company rebrand and mobile product redesign, contributing to a 223% increase in mobile sales.
- Improved information architecture, conversion flows, and mobile usability in close partnership with engineering.
- Managed digital programs with budgets up to $500K across more than 35 clients.
- Led responsive redesigns of legacy websites from concept through launch.
